The Commission recognizes the need for the regulation of the Repurchase Agreement Market, not only due to the mandate of the Commission under the Securities Industry Act, 1995 to ensure the orderly development of the capital market, but also as a result of the size of the industry and the potential systemic risks that are posed to the financial system if the market is left unregulated.

TTSEC elected as third representative to the IARC
At a recently concluded meeting of regional and international securities regulators in Buenos Aires – Argentina, Trinidad and Tobago, through the Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission (TTSEC), was elected as the third representative of the Inter-American Regional Committee of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) for the period 2012-2014.
