The Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission will be having an official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) for the Exchange of Information and Cooperation and Consultation between the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago and the TTSEC on Monday January 6, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Port of Spain.
This MoU was drawn up pursuant to Section 19 of the Securities Act, 2012, which states that “The Commission may consult, co-operate with and provide information to the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago….in order to minimise duplication of effort and to maximise the protection of investors.” It sets forth the statement of intent of both authorities to establish a framework to facilitate the exchange of information between both entities and to enforce or secure compliance with any laws, regulations and rules relating to the function and duties of both entities.
